Liberty SARLU Advances Its Renewable Energy Strategy with New Solar Investment

Liberty SARLU has taken an important step in its long-term renewable energy strategy with the installation of a new solar power and energy storage system at its main cold-storage facility in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The newly installed system comprises 792 solar panels with a combined peak capacity of 500 kWp, complemented by a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 520 kW AC.

Liberty operates an extensive network of cold-storage facilities, where continuous and reliable electricity is essential to maintaining controlled temperatures and protecting the integrity of the cold chain. The integration of solar generation and battery storage will strengthen energy resilience, support business continuity and improve overall energy efficiency.

The installation at Liberty’s main cold store marks the beginning of a broader renewable energy rollout, with plans to progressively introduce solar energy solutions across the company’s other cold-storage facilities.

Through these investments, Liberty aims to build a more sustainable, resilient and energy-efficient cold-chain infrastructure while continuing to support its growing operations in the DRC.
